Madagascar palm is a long-lived palm & easy to please. This popular pachypodium has a shiny silver trunk covered with long, sharp spines. The trunk may branch out, making it even more attractive. A tuft of long, narrow leaves grow only at the top of the trunk, like a palm tree. However, it isn't really a palm, but a succulent from the Apocynaceae family.

  • Low maintenance
  • Grows to about 4-6' indoors and 15' outdoors
  • Needs full sun to partial shade
  • Ideal temperature is 65-75°F 
  • Toxicity: Toxic to humans and pets if ingested
  • USDA hardiness zones for outdoor planting: 9-11
