Ananas comosus, or pineapple plant, is a type of Bromeliad naturally found in tropical regions in South America. Bromeliads are special because each plant only ever bears one fruit. Once the pineapple itself has passed it's best to keep the parent plant and watch for it to produce baby plants around the base. This plant is grown for ornamental purposes only and is not edible.
