Cordyline fruticosa black magic - Hawaiian essential leaf, essential plants or cordylines, also known as essential & Hawaiian good-luck plants, are very popular. They are known for their intense leaf colors & leaf shapes producing interest & contrasts even in deep shade. These tropical plants generally have an upright, tree-like form. The stems are thin, usually un-branched & woody. The long leaves may be sword or lance-shaped & are clustered in rosettes at the ends of upright semi-woody stems. They may be stiff or leathery attached directly to the stem.

• The leaves are green, aging to a deep plum-color that will grow in sun or shade. (Depending on the light, they almost look black).
