DIY Boho Plant Hanger
We’re always looking for new and trendy ways to hang plants; a macrame hanger or strange thrift store finds can really up to your decor game. But today, we’re going to show you how to make your own hanging planter with just a few simple supplies!
- Wicker basket
- 2 Large Embroidery Hoops
Step 1: Connect the Hoop
The first step is to connect the embroidery hoops. Do this by taking the block ends of each hoop and leaning them into each other at a slight angle. Then, with your string, wrap them tightly together through the notch on the hoops and tie it off. Then, the two string ends and ties them into a loop, so you can hang it.
Step 2: The Bottom
For this step, you need to cut 8 pieces of string that are two inches longer than the width of the bottom of your basket. Once you’ve done this, tie each end of the string to the bottom of your embroidery hoop hanger; one end on one hoop, and the other on the second hoop. Repeat this with every piece of string.
Step 3: Connect The Basket
To connect your basket, cut 6 pieces of string about 8" long. Poke the string through the side of the basket from the outside, and then again through the bottom from the inside. Repeat this three times on each side of the basket. Once you’ve done this, place the basket in the middle of the hanger, and tie each string in a knot tightly around the embroidery hoop.
Step 4: Finishing Touches
The final step is to cut 5 pieces of string, roughly 2’ long, and weave them through the basket-connection strings; this will make your piece look a little more finished. Then all that’s left to do is to trim the extra strands, add your plant, and hang your creation!
